Though grammar and punctuation deal with the technical (or conventions/rules) side of writing, this class will emphasize the art of these skills. As much as showing why and how the rules work, we will be working from the perspective of how the application of those rules makes writing more effective and even beautiful. This class will cover basic through intermediate levels of grammar and punctuation. It runs approximately one semester. The class will be a dynamic process in the ways that information is presented, the students participate, and the written work is done. Routinely, there will be mini-lectures, class games, and opportunities to practice and demonstrate what is being learned. Each student will make his or her own reference manual as we progress through the material. Please note: There will be homework required.
